The podcast world is profoundly filled with white people’s perspectives, Red Nation Podcast is an Indigenous thinking machine in a world of white thought. This is what makes this particular podcast so special because there is very little information on thought pertaining to indigenous peoples and this land. They wanted to add their own twist into the politic world of podcasts. We center Native political agendas and struggles through direct action, advocacy, mobilization, and education”. The organization’s mission reads: “The Red Nation is dedicated to the liberation of Native peoples from capitalism and colonialism. The Red Nation Podcast originates from the organization Red Nation. Estes also works alongside his wife Melanie Yazzie and their editors collective, plus, Kyon Benally. His podcast is very similar to Red Nation with a Star Wars twist. Rahamani has his own podcast called “The East is a Podcast”. To help kick things off Estes partnered with a producer Sina Rahamani from New York, whom edits and helps shapes the stories. It’s one of a kind in the podcast world, especially when Indigenous people’s voices are so unheard. What are left politics from an indigenous perspective? Basically, it’s anti-imperialism, activism however you will get arts and culture when you listen to this diverse podcast. A lot of the shows are focused on food sovereignty and international politics but really what they focus on are left politics from indigenous perspectives. So, Estes took it upon himself to learn how to record and preform interviews. Because of University and schools, there’s plenty of people lecturing and giving talks that people wanted to hear but were unable to due to time or location.



Estes, originally from Lower Brule, now resides in Albuquerque New Mexico. In a way this started naturally because of Estes life conversations and people wanting to be a fly on the wall.
